An interesting game for Cojute (12-6) which hosted in Cojutepeque second-ranked Santa Tecla (15-2). Third ranked Cojute managed to get a 10-point victory 93-83. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Santa Tecla. Cojute forced 23 Santa Tecla turnovers. American guard Jeremy Agosto (177-1997, agency: The French Family Consulting) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 9 rebounds and 14 assists. His fellow American import forward Chase Berry (198-1998, college: Boise St.) contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Dominican forward Adonis Lopez (-1997) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds for Santa Tecla. Cojute maintains third place with 12-6 record having just one point less than leader San Salvador. Santa Tecla at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost.
The game in San Vicente was also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Quezaltepeque (10-8) played at the court of 7th ranked Fantasmas (6-10). Quezaltepeque managed to secure a 6-point victory 70-64. American players dominated the game. It was a great evening for center Marc Montavious (206-1990, college: Georgetown, KY) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Ron Lawton helped adding 14 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Juwuan Carter (193-1996, college: Georgian Court) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Fantasmas' coach Julio Villalta rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quezaltepeque have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 10-8 record. Fantasmas at the other side keep the seventh position with ten games lost. Quezaltepeque will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Fantasmas will play on the road against Santa Ana (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The game between fourth ranked Quezaltepeque (10-8) and 8th ranked Santa Ana (5-12) in Quezaltepeque on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Quezaltepeque outscored guests from Santa Ana 126-50. Quezaltepeque dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 42. They outrebounded Santa Ana 54-26 including a 47-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quezaltepeque looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Santa Ana's players. It was a quality performance for naturalized Canadian Jose Araujo (187-1986, college: UNBC, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 53 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Dominican forward Rayner Moquete (185-1990, college: Binghamton) accounted for 7 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists for the winning side. American point guard Miles Weber (185-1996, college: Harris-Stowe St.) came up with 29 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Melvin Marroquin (185-1999) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Santa Ana in the defeat. Santiagueno - Chalchuapa 142-111

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Santiagueno's (5-11) home victory over bottom-ranked Chalchuapa (1-17) in Usultan 142-111 on Saturday. Santiagueno dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 56. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 54-19 including a 26-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santiagueno looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 25 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. It was an exceptional evening for American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 25 rebounds and 7 assists. American swingman Josh Jackson (203-1997, college: Kansas) accounted for 32 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side. Five Santiagueno players scored in double figures. Santiagueno's coach Erivan Amaya felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) came up with 40 points (!!!) and 8 assists and the other American import Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) respectively for Chalchuapa in the defeat. Santiagueno moved-up to eighth place. Chalchuapa lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 17 lost games. Santiagueno will meet higher ranked Metapan (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chalchuapa will have a break next round.
