Quezaltepeque outscored guests from Santa Ana 126-50. Quezaltepeque dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Santa Ana's 42. They outrebounded Santa Ana 54-26 including a 47-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Santiagueno dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Chalchuapa's 56. They outrebounded Chalchuapa 54-19 including a 26-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Santiagueno looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 25 passes made by Chalchuapa's players. It was an exceptional evening for American-Colombian center Freddy Asprilla (206-1988, college: Canisius) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 32 points, 25 rebounds and 7 assists. American swingman Josh Jackson (203-1997, college: Kansas) accounted for 32 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists for the winning side. Five Santiagueno players scored in double figures. Santiagueno's coach Erivan Amaya felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Robert Story (183, college: WSSU) came up with 40 points (!!!) and 8 assists and the other American import Gorg Alhag (190-1997, college: Mayville St.) added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) respectively for Chalchuapa in the defeat. Santiagueno moved-up to eighth place. Chalchuapa lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 17 lost games. Santiagueno will meet higher ranked Metapan (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Chalchuapa will have a break next round.
